About This Webinar
An overview of Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This title prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities in the workplace. We will discuss reasonable accommodations for employees with a focus on the interactive process and how things have or have not changed since the COVID-19 pandemic.
Presenter
Ellen Derge (she/her) is the ADA Coordinator for Dane County, Wisconsin. Prior to this position, Ellen worked at the Dane County Aging and Disability Resource Center. Ellen has over 15 years of professional experience working with and advocating for individuals with disabilities. Ellen currently oversees ADA compliance for the County of Dane. She coordinates with departments and divisions within the county as well as with community partners to improve access to county facilities and programing. Ellen also works with Dane County employees to provide reasonable accommodations.

The use of law enforcement in mental health crisis responses creates a structural risk environment for people with mental illness that increases their risk for traumatization, injury, arrest, incarceration, and death. Our three panelists will discuss programs that are providing alternatives to police response. The Moderator will be Rebecca Hoyt.

- Chris Hammes is Assistant Chief of Medical Operations for the Madison Fire Department. Serving on the MFD since 2005, previously held the roles of Firefighter, Paramedic, Paramedic 2, Training Officer, Lake Rescue Team, Lieutenant, and Division Chief of EMS Training and Logistics. Currently responsible for all medical operations for the MFD, which in conjunction with our Division Chief of Mobile Integrated Health, includes the CARES teams.
- Montrèal Cain is a trailblazer, who pioneered the MERA Response Team invented to make Wisconsin a mentally healthier place to live. Through Cain’s invention, House Call Wisconsin, Assistive Technology in the form of an application, has changed the way we view caring for families who have a loved one living with a mental illness.
- Mary Neubauer, MSW, CPS is a respected leader in the Milwaukee mental health community. She serves as Co-Chair of the Milwaukee Mental Health Task Force, is a co-founder of the Office of Consumer Affairs at the Milwaukee County Behavioral Health Division, as well as the Chair for the Milwauke County Mental Health Board. Ms. Neubauer has helped develop the certified peer specialist training and exams for the state of Wisconsin and has led Crisis Intervention Trainings with the Milwaukee Police Department.
